The theme for World Cancer Day from 2016 to 2018 is “We Can. I Can”. The main aim of this theme is to gather people globally, individually and collectively, study, understand and work towards the impact and effects of cancer all over the world.

On Sunday, February 4, people will be celebrating World Cancer Day in order to raise awareness among millions of people who face unequal access to cancer detection, treatment, and care services. Cancer is recently recognized by World Health Organization (WHO) as the leading cause of global morbidity. Is the second highest killer throughout the world.

  • Cancer is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality all over the world, with % of new cases is increasing day by day.
  • The number of new cases is expected to grow by 70% in next one or two decades.
  • Second-leading causes of death and was responsible for 8.8 million deaths.
  • One-third of death from cancer is due to lifestyle and dietary risks: high BMI, no or low intake of fruits and vegetables, no physical activity, more of tobacco and alcohol intake.
  • Approximately 22% of cancer death is due to tobacco and is one of the most important risk factors.
  • 25% of cases in low and middle class are due to cancer-causing infection such as hepatitis and human papilloma virus (HPV).

In this test sample of biopsy tissues are taken, the doctor scrapes the sample of cells from the surface of the cervix to look for abnormal cell change. 3. Oral Cancer –

Not only in India but oral cancer is one of the major problems in the world. The main risk to develop the oral cancer is tobacco and alcohol consumption. Early detection of oral cancer has led to significant amount of decrease in death rates and sufferings.
