They say the early you know about a problem, the better it is. Cannot deny it, right? Be it any problem in life, if we can address it when it’s small, we are higher chances of solving the problem. So is the case with health related issues. Take a snowball, it’s fun – you play with it. Roll it down a snowy hill, it becomes an avalanche. Lifestyle and Non communicable diseases are that snowball these days. Due to inaction in its early stages, the deaths due to them have become an epidemic. According to experts, 70% of deaths in such chronic conditions can be avoided if problem is detected early.
With early detection, preventive measures can be taken on time. This early detection is dependent hugely on knowing what can cause that disease and on getting the right health tests done. These health tests are done in Diagnostic Centers. Diagnostic Centers are a Rs. 15,000 Crore industry and growing at a healthy rate of 18%.
However, most of their business comes from people who are already sick and doctor prescribes tests for proper treatment. While, correct diagnosis is important for treatment, it is equally important that people who are prone to health problems get tested regularly. There are specific health tests to detect health problems which arise from busy and unhealthy lifestyle, genetics and factors such and age and gender.
In our previous blog, we did cover some information about Health Tests and their need. But we would like to share more information on the same.
Why Should I get a Health Test? I am Hail and Hearty!
That is great! However, several NCD’s have no symptoms until its’ too late. Many health issues such as heart disease and diabetes have high genetic disposition. So even if you are living a very healthy lifestyle you still have a risk to them. It is therefore imperative that you get checked for these health issues, periodically. The frequency of these tests – once a year or once every two years is dependant on your age and family health history. However, for people over the age of 35, an annual health check up is highly advisable.
